Beyond Blue

Within the depths of the ocean, another form of a life glides through crystalline waters…

Inspired by Friedrich de la Motte Fouque's 1811 tale, Undine, the one-of-a-kind “Beyond Blue” gown explores the mystery and majesty of this curious realm. Life-size mer-creatures undulate in a rounded composition gradually drifting back to their hidden world.

The artist oversaw the two-month construction process and personally completed many of its most painstaking elements. The skirt’s surface showcases an original Novelline painting and glitters with over 30,000 hand-applied, color-coordinated Swarovski crystals.

The eco-conscious gown is comprised of 60% hemp, a sustainable fiber and utilizes a minimal waste pattern. The petticoat includes over 200 yards of tulle assembled with a no-waste pattern. The cathedral train is 13ft in length.

[Novelline’s] elegant, mysterious, and mer-people-laden “Beyond Blue” gown (inspired by the 1811 tale “Undine”) was some of the most beautiful cosplay we’ve ever seen in our lives.
